11 Years Dancing at Sharon's Studio of Dance & Music

I started dance when I was 7 years old in 2008, not quite sure of what would occur when the doors opened and I walked in with butterflies fluttering inside of me, making me shake with nerves. However, the years kept going by, each class sparking a new hidden identity of mine, the girl who’s passion and commitment will shape her through life. As the recital approached, I forgot about everything other than my dances, allowing me to release my inner passion and perform with a grin on my face the size of a Jack-O-Lantern’s carved smile. It was at this moment I understood that this is where I’m meant to be and what I’m destined to be doing. I took classes such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, and Contemporary. The older I got, the more classes I took (ballet technique, stretch leaps and turns, and summer classes/intensives). I joined the performing group for two years and enjoyed every second of class and the performances themselves. I now can proudly state I have been dancing here for 11 years.

As my dancing progressed, many times I found myself applying more and more

corrections my teachers have told me and shaping myself to become strong and powerful. Losing track of time while in the studio is an understatement for me, for I feel as though I am being transported to a brand new universe, where movement is communication and the mind can let go. In addition, new friendships grew for a lifetime and everlasting bonds with the teachers had formed. The discipline and skills learned will stay with me for the rest of my life, and through my college dance career.  I am forever grateful for the beautiful memories and wonderful years here at Sharon’s Studio of Dance and Music. I will now be attending Radford University, in which I will study Marketing/ Design Management as a double major and continue to pursue dance, possibly as a minor!
