I started dancing at Sharon’s in 2nd grade in September of 2012. I had never
danced before and I was excited to start something new. After my first year, I loved it
and begged my mom to let me continue because I loved it so much. I have loved dance
from the minute I stepped inside the studio the first time. As a kid, I was not as
passionate about many things as I was about dance. Dance gave me an opportunity to
express my creativity and me as a person.
I dance for myself. Not for others around me, but for myself. I didn’t just think of
dance as a class. I thought of it as an experience which has influenced my life in the
best possible way. Every time I go to class here, I wonder what my life would be like if I
didn’t start dancing. I have wondered that many times through my time here and I was
finally able to find an answer. If I didn’t dance, I wouldn’t have met the many friends I
have had in my years here that love dance as much as I do. I would not have something
that I am as passionate about as I am about dance.

Sharon’s has always been a welcoming and friendly environment for me over the
11 years I have been here. The teachers I have had have taught me so much. They
have taught me that as I do the dances, to feel it in my heart and dance from the heart. I
have taken that lesson and applied it to every dance I have done. My dance career
would not have been the same if I did not start and finish here.
As I go on to Fairleigh Dickinson as a part of the Honors Program majoring in
Hospitality and Tourism Management, I will always continue to dance. I will remember how amazing my experience was and dance in college whether it be on a team or just for myself. Sharon’s has always had a big place in my heart and it will continue to
always be a part of my life that I will never forget.
