Senior Spotlight: Carin Genovese

6 Years Dancing at Sharon's Studio of Dance & Music

I have been dancing for nine years, starting at Mary Lou Hale’s School of Dance before going to Sharons in 2014. I continued dancing until 2016, when I lost motivation and

decided to stop. At the time, I didn't realize how much I would miss it. For four years, dance

wasn’t a part of my life, but in 2021, my friends encouraged me to give it another try. At first, I was hesitant, thinking I might be making a mistake by returning after so long. However, once I stepped back into the studio and attended my first few classes, I quickly realized how wrong I was. Dancing at Sharon’s again not only reignited my passion for dance, and it made me feel happier and more confident in myself. While a part of me regrets taking four years off, I believe that stepping away gave me a fresh admiration for dance and how much it means to me. I am incredibly grateful for the journey that led me back, as it helped me make new friends, shape my love for dance, and allowed me to enjoy it even more. Most importantly, I would like to thank my teachers for their belief in me. I will be attending Montclair State University to major in Marine Biology And Coastal Science.
