Teen dancer in black top and red pants performs tap dance on stage at dance competition.

For the past 16 years, I have spent most of my evenings within those pink walls that I can proudly call my home. Sharon’s means more to me than just an extracurricular activity, and I can proudly say that it has shaped who I am as a person. I am forever grateful for the passion that Sharon’s has allowed me to pursue, preparing me as I go on to dance in a performing company at the University of Connecticut. Joining the competition team has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life, as it has taught me a sense of commitment and discipline that has extended far beyond the studio. I would like to thank all of my teachers for the attention and love they have instilled in my training, teaching me to always push myself beyond what I believe I can do. Their support has nurtured much more than my dancing, and I can luckily say that I have been able to find comfort and love within our relationships. I would also like to give a special thank you to Miss Amanda, who has helped me grow in my solos, and more importantly has cared for me in and outside of the studio. My relationship with Miss Amanda has been one of the highlights of my dance career- she never fails to check in after a doctor’s appointment, or asks you to text her that you’ve made it home safe- she truly treats her students as if they are her own kids. I also want to thank Miss Sharon, Miss Tammy, and Miss Susan for the opportunities and generosity they have shared with me and my family. As sad as I am for it to end, I am endlessly grateful for how bittersweet this year has been, as it truly defines how special and hard it is to end this chapter. If I could go back to the start- to the moment I picked up those rhythm sticks in Miss Susan’s class- I would in a heartbeat. But, as I prepare to take the recital stage for one last time, I am excited for what is to come.

"One of the most bittersweet feelings has to be when you realize you’re going to miss a moment while you’re still living it" - A.
