Top Five Tips to Be Prepared for Recital!

One of the most exciting, fun and valuable experiences for the student is the extension from the classroom to the stage, which comes at our annual performances. We are so excited for our students to be on the stage to perform the skills they have worked so hard on all year! Though recital season is a fun time for all, it can be stressful as well; from tickets, to costumes, to choreography, and more, there is a lot to do on all ends! To ease the process, we’ve compiled a few of our top tips to ease the recital stress on your end:

1. Put your child’s name in their shoes.

Generally, all students in the same class will need the same type and color dance shoes. Often, many students are the same size. Putting your child’s name in their shoes will prevent losing them!

2. Pack an extra pair of tights.

Tights can easily get runs and/or pulls in them. It’s better to be safe than sorry, so pack an extra pair just in case!

3. Make sure you bring: lipstick, hair spray, and BOBBY PINS

4. Keep your costumes and ALL pieces in their garment bag(s).

This will help you stay organized and prevent you from losing pieces. If you have a costume with a tutu, hang it upside down so it stays fluffy.

5. Practice your hairstyle (and makeup) prior to the performance.

Practicing the hairstyle before it is show time is important because you will be more confident and the overall getting ready process will be a lot less stressful. Dress rehearsal is helpful for this but the more you practice, the better!
