5 Tips for Success this Season!

The beginning of the new season is right around the corner and we’re counting down the days (2 left)! Whether you’re starting classes at our dance studio in Whippany, NJ for the first time, or you’re returning for another season, these 5 tips are sure to help you have a successful season!

1. Keep An Open Mind & Take the Right Classes for YOU

There is so much to learn! Consider taking a class in a new subject that you haven’t tried before, or taking class with a new teacher! Exposing yourself to new things will only expand your knowledge and make you a stronger dancer!

If you want to take a dance class that your friend doesn’t want to, don’t let that discourage you. Take the class anyway and you’ll make new dance friends in no time that will last for a lifetime! Review the classes recommended to you by your teachers. When it comes to dance, they know you best; trust their advice because they want what is best for you.

2. Come to Class Prepared

Make sure you get a good night’s sleep, are well hydrated and nourished before coming to dance class. You have to be healthy before you can dance! Check your dance bag, make sure you have all of your shoes, tights, hair ties, a water bottle, a notebook/pen to take notes, and anything else you may need! Coming prepared will help in keeping you focused on learning.

3. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions

When you’re in dance class, if you have a question - don’t be afraid or embarrassed to ask! Questioning things helps us learn and grow, not only as dancers, but as people. Plus, chances are likely someone else in your class has a similar question. Asking questions can help yourself and others!

4. Practice

You’ve heard the saying “practice makes perfect” - there are multiple ways that you can practice to solidify what you’re learning in class. Show off your newly learned steps to friends, family members, pets, or an audience of your favorite stuffed animals!

5. Do YOUR Best

There is no sense in comparing yourself with any other dancer! As long as you are doing YOUR best, that is what matters and what is recognized.
