Mommy & Me Dance Classes
Mommy & Me Dance Classes for Children and Toddlers Ages 1 ½ to 3 ½
With Mommy close by, children will learn the basics of dance, while engaging in hands-on movement activities essential to proper development and social skills. Toddlers can sometimes have a hard time without their mommy, daddy or caregiver by their side. We at Sharon’s Studio of Dance understand this and offer a mommy and me toddler dance program, for boys and girls ages 1 ½ to 3 ½, where students take a children’s dance class with an adult! This 45 minute class focuses on dance movement, hand-eye coordination, stretching, counting, rhythm and other basic dance techniques that are great for early child development, building self esteem and self confidence. Mommy & me dance classes are perfect for mothers too, not only will your little girl or boy get to exercise and dance, so do our mothers, while bonding with their dancing toddler! The mommy and me dance lesson was also designed for moms wanting to spend more quality time with their children and create wonderful dancing memories which will last forever. Quality one-on-one interaction is beneficial for both children and parents. This class is a fun and exciting toddler dance class for boys and girls who are new to dance! Our mommy and me program also helps the child to build self confidence and self esteem by trying new things. With a caring and experienced children’s dance instructor and mommy, daddy or caregiver close by the child feels safe and secure in their environment therefore extending into new areas of growth, movement and development!
What is the Mommy & Me Dance Program?
The mommy and me program is focused on movement, coordination, balance, rhythm, stretching, and basic kinetic skills for your little one. The class is set to music and will feature basic dance steps in toddler ballet, toddler jazz, and toddler tap at Sharon’s dance. Toddler acrobatics are incorporated into the curriculum to help with flexibility and an increased range of motion. Different obstacle courses are created with mats of all different shapes and sizes to roll on, over and under as well as a balance beam, tents and tunnels for the ultimate in stimulating the child’s imagination. Many children’s dance games and props such as musical instruments, bean bags and parachutes are part of the mommy & me dance class. This is a great program for beginning dancers because it allows for the learning experience to take place in a comfortable, safe environment with Mom. When it is time for the dancing toddler to move on to their own children’s dance class, the transition is easy because they know the studio and instructors. All steps are demonstrated with the correct execution of the movement, musicality, and French terminology so that beginner moms and children, alike, can understand the fundamentals of dance together. The mommy & me dance program is also designed for those with dance experience who would like to combine a love of dance with special quality time with their dancing toddler.
What to wear for the Mommy and Me Dance Class
We suggest that parents and children come to the mommy & me class dressed in comfortable clothing and sneakers. Girls may also wear dance clothing such as leotards, ballet skirts and tights as well as ballet shoes. Boys may wear gym shorts or pants, a t-shirt, sneakers or black ballet shoes.
